2019 Christmas Gift Ideas for Every Travel Lover
1. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is a great companion for your long train rides, or when you’re sipping coffee in a quaint local cafe.
You can store hundreds of e-books, including all your travel guides, in this e-book reader, making it a fantastic lightweight option to bring with you wherever you go.
With a battery life of 6 weeks, you will never have a dull moment on your long commutes!
2. Mini drone
Take your travel photography to new heights with a mini drone. They enable people to capture unique aerial images and they can also be very affordable now. Just check out these 77 drone photos that will make you want to fly a drone now!
Things to remember when buying someone a drone as a travel gift: you want something that’s compact enough to be easily portable, robust, and capable of getting high quality footage.
DJI is a really established brand in the area!
Make it even more practical by paying a little more for an extra battery or two and a year of insurance cover.
Then get ready to see some awesome photography when you get home!
3. Smart luggage
For the sophisticated traveller, nothing says practical cool better than a set of smart luggage.
These compact, easily manoeuvrable suitcases that contain smart technology can serve a number of uses, such as telling you instantly when your luggage is over the maximum weight for a flight or locking the case automatically whenever it goes out of range of your phone – handy for if it gets lost or stolen.
Many items of luggage now have built-in battery packs, so you can charge devices by USB while in the check-in queue, and you can even find motorised suitcases that follow you around, with no need to push or pull – great for travellers with their hands full of duty free!
4. Bluetooth headphones
Headphones are an essential piece of kit for any traveller. The pair you receive on long haul flights is useless. But a good set will come in handy for long journeys, blocking out snores in hostel dorms, or staying in touch with work while on the road.
You can pick up a snazzy pair of Bluetooth headphones for someone, in-ear or over-ear, for any budget.
And if they’re only used to the pair that comes free with a phone, they’ll be amazed at the different in sound quality!
5. A stylish travel journal
There are a million and one uses for a travel journal, from keeping track of flight details to taking restaurant recommendations from a local you’ve met on the bus, to pinning a favourite photo from a deserted beach you once found.
Buy someone a really luxurious journal, perhaps one bound in leather or moleskin, and not only will it encourage them to use it as much as possible, it will also look great on their bookshelf once they get home again.
6. Travel skincare kit
It has to be said that travel is tough on the skin (and even hair!)- fluctuations in climate, time zone, and long days on the move can all leave you feeling dry and blotchy.
The low humidity in plane cabins can make your skin dry out like a prune. So a useful Christmas gift idea for someone that loves to travel is a skincare set that comes in handy travel sizes, so it can be used in the plane cabin.
Burt’s Bees is a brand I’ve heard really positively about and would really recommend!
That way, as soon as you arrive in a new destination, you can emerge looking fabulous – like a million dollars. Or a million euros. Or a million roubles. You get the idea. 😉
7. Travel Wallet
A travel wallet is a chic and convenient way to keep everything you need for your journey and your destination in one easily accessible place.
Travelling to a new city, you’ll never be spared from the endless brochures, ticket stubs and maps. That’s why a passport organizer comes in handy for serial travellers like me.
Combine your wallet and passport holder into one with this handy multi-purpose passport holder. Save the trouble of carrying multiple pouches for different purposes. There are also added compartments for you to store your tickets and receipts for easier retrieval, so you don’t risk losing your train tickets.
Passport, tickets, bank cards, boarding pass, business cards, currency – now all at your fingertips and there’s no longer a need to go rooting around in handbags or pockets when it comes to passport control or paying for a taxi from the airport.
Go for one that has a sturdy wrist loop as this is one piece of luggage no-one will want to lose!
8. Lightweight hammock
The ideal Christmas gift for travellers who love nothing more than relaxing in beautiful places, a travel hammock is easily folded up and carried around, weighing next to nothing.
Perfect for festivals, beach getaways or just putting up between two trees in the garden, they make having a siesta fun.
You can also get two-person hammocks for couples.
9. World Atlas of Street Food
Another fab gift idea for travellers that love to try different local foods while they’re away, often very exotic cuisine, is the World Atlas of Street Food.
Not only does it showcase the best places in cities around the world to pick up traditional delicacies (with photos likely to make you drool), but it also includes stacks of easy to follow recipes so that these foods can be recreated at home.
10. Try The World subscription
Speaking of food, what if you could try real food?
Just one of the many pleasures that comes from travelling is the opportunity to try different foods from around the world. While not many people are lucky enough to stay on the road for years at a time, that doesn’t mean your taste buds can’t continue to travel when you get home.
Try The World is a subscription service that sends you a gift box every month, either containing ingredients or snacks, for cuisine from different countries.
In January they might send authentic piri-piri seasoning from Portugal, in February delicious olive spread from Argentina, and in March couscous from Casablanca in Morocco – you get the idea. It reminds people of their own travels, inspires them to go again, and ensures their dinner parties are always a hit.
When it comes to packing for travel, organization is the way to go. With these printed travel bags that helps classify one item from another, they keep your to-go essentials presentable and contained. Whether it is shoes, hair dryer, lingerie, or laundry, you no longer have to jostle with tangled cords.
Seeing that my boyfriend was entering a new phase of life after graduation, owning cufflinks is a necessary accessory for every working man. Featuring detailed images of the globe, these tiny terrestrial portraits that are set under glass on silver-toned cufflinks are a great gift for the gentlemen with style.
I love how minimalistic and simple this adjustable jewellery stand is. With four removable posts at varying heights, you can easily customize and display according to your various jewellery collection from your worldy travels, keeping it neat, presentable and stylish!
14. Coloured World Scratch Map
Keep track of all your travel adventures and escapades with this world scratch map. Upon completion of a new city or country, simply use a coin to scratch off the cities covered on your World Scratch Map. It is incredibly fun, especially if you’re an avid traveller.
Hang this colourful bucket list Scratch Map on your bedroom wall and wake up each day ready to plan your next adventure. The map serves as both a motivation to travel and an opportunity to reminisce your past adventures.
15. Black and Gold World Scratch Map
If you prefer a black and gold version, this World Scratch Map is meticulously finished in a beautiful shade of black and gold.
This portable map comes in handy especially if you’re a backpacker. Fold it up and pack it in your luggage wherever you go, and potentially brag about all the cities you’ve been to with other like-minded travellers. 😉
P.S. I’ve got one in white and gold! 🙂
Tinggly experience voucher
Travellers today are far less interested in doing the same things as everyone else.
They want to seek out new places, authentic activities and share stories that are unique. That’s where Tinggly experience gifts come in.
They’ve curated hundreds of the world’s most interesting, exciting, romantic and relaxing activities – from skydives to beach horse riding, Balinese spa sessions to wintery wildlife walks in Alaska, to offer an amazing variety of inspiration for the traveller.
The experience vouchers can be sent either in a stylish presentation box, or by email, with a personal note from you. Then the fun starts with choosing what to do.

18. Matador Messenger Bag
Only 88g in weight, the Matador Indigo Transit Tote is another great lightweight and waterproof bag, with an 18L capacity. As with other Matador backpacks, it is designed to be leak-proof and puncture-resistant. Choose either the Matador Indigo Transit Tote Grey Tote or Blue Tote.
No matter the colour, my experience at Labuan Bajo, Indonesia with Matador’s other range of products have only affirmed my trust in its commitment to durable and quality products for the outdoor adventurers.
19. CabinZero Classic 44L Backpack
Travel in style with the Cabinzero 44L backpack, designed to fit in cabin spaces (hence the name!). Made out of ultra-lightweight material, this spacious backpack allows you to pack your luggage into a backpack.
Also, it has an Okoban lost-and-found tags installed in each bag, to allow you pinpoint the location of your backpack remotely should you lose it. You have plenty of colours and designs to choose from, so go crazy!
20. CabinZero Classic 28L Backpack
If you’re looking for a less bulky version of a backpack, CabinZero also has a 28L backpack option. The range of colours is equally mind-boggling, but my favourite is this Purple Cloud.
21. Black Anti-Theft Backpack
Worried that you or your loved ones might run into trouble during the trip? It’s a common concern especially for students embarking on their first student exchange/ study abroad. I offer some practical tips for these worried students (I know because I’ve been through them too!)
This anti-theft backpack has been meticulously designed to withstand various unwanted scenarios from happening (we don’t even want to imagine…).
The safety features include the slash-proof material, having multiple secret compartments, as well as having hidden zipper closures. On top of that, additional features such being water-resistant and containing USB Charging ports make this bag an even greater travel option for any backpacker.

There is nothing better than sharing the photos you’ve taken through your travels in tangible yet affordable ways – by offering postcards to friends, family and pen pals.
Rather than uploading my pictures on Facebook, I prefer sharing the best of my collection within my blog posts.
But when it comes to the best of the best, nothing beats sending a personal note with your favourite picture to the special people in your lives.
I love meeting people across the globe. I once wrote a letter to Toby, the small boy who wrote to every country in the world. He wrote back and I was so thrilled! I was once pen pals with my American cousin and her friends too. There is a certain sincerity in handwritten letters and posting by airmail. Who’s with me?
