Additionally, I had the opportunity to meet new and interesting individuals, making my experience even more enjoyable.
It felt as though we were siblings from another country, freely engaging in open and honest conversations about various topics, including relationships.
The transparency and authenticity that permeated our interactions were truly valuable, providing a rare space for genuine connections to flourish.
Overcoming Introversion
As an introvert, my journey towards social growth has been a remarkable one. Surprising as it may be, I have become more comfortable in social situations, thanks in part to meeting Ian from Travel Massive during Bansko Nomad Fest.
I recall attending Travel Massive for the first time back in 2016, when I was a shy student with minimal social skills.
As someone from a conservative Asian background, the idea of interacting with confident foreigners who effortlessly connected with everyone in the room was intimidating.
However, fast forward to the present day, and I find myself more at ease being around others, especially fellow nomads. The warm and sociable nature of these individuals makes it effortless to form connections and make new friends.
This is one of the primary reasons why Bansko Nomad Fest continues to attract interesting attendees, despite occasional logistical challenges and unpredictable weather.

Quality of Talks
I found that the quality of the talks this year was not as good as last year’s. Last year, I felt the talks were more valuable and I was actively taking notes.
This year was kind of surface-level. Additionally, I was quite preoccupied with practising my own speech, so I didn’t really pay much attention to the talks.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed the Unconferences and the events that followed the talks were incredibly entertaining.
Unlocking My Untapped Energy
If you had asked me a year ago if I’d be out partying until the early hours of the morning, I would have laughed and called myself a “granny” who goes to bed at a reasonable hour.
But here I am, living proof that people can surprise themselves.
Being on my own and lacking a circle of friends to have fun with in Singapore or at travel blogging events was a major factor contributing to my inhibition.
It seemed like enjoyable parties were few and far between, or perhaps my friends just didn’t share the same zest for adventure.
Little did I know that deep within me, there was a well of untapped energy waiting to burst forth. And burst forth it did, particularly during those late nights where the real magic happened.
I recently confided in Marvin, sharing my newfound revelation that I’ve been consistently staying up until 2 am, indulging in all the fun and events that life has to offer. Drinks were enjoyed, laughter filled the air, and unforgettable memories were made.
This experience has taught me the importance of breaking free from self-imposed limitations and embracing the vibrant night scene. Life is too short to stay confined within the boundaries of routine and comfort.
