Located in Seminyak in Bali, the entrance to Hu’u Villas is almost obscured by the other neighbouring establishments. Sandwiched between Alila and Sea Vu Play, step through the entrance of Hu’u Villas and enter the humble reception.

Checking in to Hu’u Villas, Bali, Indonesia
There was only 1 staff throughout the period which we stayed in, which made the check-in and enquiry process slower than our excited selves can bear.
After showing the earlier guest to their room, the receptionist came back armed with our key, and led us to our loft villa through a narrow corridor leading to the 10 villa rooms. The public area is not large – it is essentially made up of a corridor which leads to all the villas.
That said, they kindly facilitated our booking for surfing even as late as 10pm, so we were appreciative of their hospitality.
Hu’u Villas’ Room, Bali, Indonesia
Imagine our excitement when we saw our very own little outdoor private garden and pool in our One Bedroom Loft!
The loft is considerably more spacious than those I’ve stayed in Singapore, with a round, dining table and a living room with a plush sofa, table and television dominating the carpeted ground floor.
There is also a kitchen space for proper cooking with stoves! The sofa was the first place WL went for, and he dissolved there for a solid few minutes. I, on the other hand, went straight for the chocolate chip cupcakes that were sitting so earnestly by the dining table, waiting to be devoured.
Bathrooms are no less forgotten. Two sinks (no more jostling for space in the morning!), a bathtub (yes!), standing shower and an open-concept wardrobe filled the space. It is worth noting that the bathrooms were equipped with air-conditioning as well. We loved how they provided scented soap for filling our bathtub, which we used to unwind on one of the nights we were there.
Skipping up to the second floor, a massive king-sized bed lay shining under the warm spotlights. A desk and wall-mounted television filled the space in front of the bed, with a simple bathroom on this level should you need to relieve yourself in the middle of the night. A chandelier hangs in the middle of the entire loft, illuminating the room come night.
A feature I love is the floor-to-ceiling, two-storey-high windows that let in plenty of light in the day. Waking up to natural light streaming into the room as you open your eyes in bed is simply the best feeling to wake up to.
If there’s one thing that can be improved, I would say it’s the noise control in Bali. Sea Vu Play’s late night music permeates through the walls, and it can disrupt light sleepers with the continuous drumming of music.
Prices start from SGD235.

Hu’u Villas’ Services, Bali, Indonesia
What they lack in amenities, they make up for with the services they provide.
A private car is available for request around Seminyak. Since there can be only 10 occupants at any one time, your chances of being chauffeured around is pretty high. That said, Seminyak is very walkable – I would even encourage you to do it and explore the shops, cafes and massage parlours that reside around.
While they don’t have a fitness centre, they provide complimentary access to Canggu Club! It is a one-stop entertainment and sporting venue, featuring a gym, waterpark, trampoline, bowling and more.
Dining at Sea Vu Play, Bali, Indonesia
We had both our breakfasts and dinner hosted at Sea Vu Play, one of the up and coming restaurants in Bali. Breakfast is served at Sea Vu Play for all Hu’u Villas guests.
WL had a traditional Indonesian breakfast while I had mine the healthy style – with egg white omelette, spinach, and a bowl of granola with fruits and yoghurt.
Sea Vu Play’s chef, Abdul, gave me the honour of making his homemade granola mix in his kitchen, after I was full of praise of the granola mix he served us for breakfast.
Abdul really went out of his way to ensure we had our tummies fulfilled during our stay in Hu’u Villas. When he heard about our early tour to Nusa Penida on our last day, knowing that we would leave before the restaurant opens, he specially arranged a takeout box for us to eat on the go, with his signature brownies and my favourite granola! (Ugh, just drooling from the thought of these food.)
Coincidentally, we were back at Sea Vu Play for their monthly Sunday flea market too. Plenty of homemade apparel, accessories, bath soaps, scents, and because it was Easter period, real bunnies! It was such a delight roaming about the stalls. That’s what I love most about shopping in Bali because everything is so affordably priced.
Hu’u Villas Location, Bali, Indonesia
Hu’u Villas presents itself as a prime spot in Seminyak in Bali, being walking distance to Potato Head Club and other affordable finds. In fact, since it is a fairly new kid on the block, Potato Head Club is the landmark we point drivers to when they are unsure of the exact location of the hotel. All the cafes that I wanted to visit in Seminyak are also within walking radius of Hu’u Villas.
Mrs Sippy, a new poolside bar/ club, which opened its doors during our stay there, is another rising party place not to be missed. There is a plunge pool where you can jump into from a height (not for the faint-hearted!), on top of a dance floor and a long bar.

Living in Hu’u Villas’ Loft Room had been an experience I had been looking forward to for months leading up to the trip, and it certainly did not disappoint. There is something about waking up to the floor-to-ceiling window and having a private pool to ourselves, a luxury that living in Singapore would not allow us to get.
