Glow Spa at Club Paradise Palawan, Coron – Spa Review

By 28 October 2017 February 3rd, 2019 One Comment

Palawan is a great destination for everyone! The sun, the sea, the waters – they are the perfect combination for me.

Located on Dimakya Island in Coron, Club Paradise Palawan is a luxury resort fit for couples and families. It was thoroughly relaxing to be on a private island, away from transport and the maddening tourist crowd.

One of my favourite experiences here, apart from the welcome foot scrub by my front porch, has to be the time I was pampered by the masseuses at Club Paradise’s Glow Spa.

Located just next to the swimming pool and clubhouse lounge, Glow Spa provides a range of therapeutic massages to tailor to your needs. Nestled in a hut-like brick building, Glow Spa aims to soothe the mind, body and spirit for a blissful journey to wellness.

The low lighting ambience and calming scents of lemongrass and fresh herbs hit me all at once as I stepped into the little hut.

Spa Options at Glow Spa

The spa allows you to choose from one of three types of relaxation from – Massage, Body Scrub and Natural Scrub.

According to the masseuses, the top choices for most guests here are the Hot Stone Massage, a combination of holistic and deep tissue massage, and Aromatherapy Massage, a light pressured massage combined with aromatic scents. There are many other choices to choose from, too, such as Traditional Hilot Massage, a traditional Filipino chiropractic practice of healing, and Ventousa Healing Treatment, using heat resistant glass to remove toxins from your body, apart from others.

You can even opt for Body Scrubs such as Coconut Body Scrub or Sea Salt Scrub to gently exfoliate and cleanse your body of dead skins. The Natural Scrub option is also available for you and you can get a body scrub with naturally-occurring ingredients such as citrus sugar, cinnamon and coffee.

Do note that these scrubs do not come with body massages.

For greater savings, get the bundle deals or packages options instead. For example, two of their popular packages are the Ladies Package and Gentleman’s Package, which includes a body scrub with a body massage, and a facial accompanied by an hour long body massage respectively. You can even indulge in luxurious options, such as Red Wine Rejuvenation and Honey Body Wrap, for more noticeable therapeutic results.

In my opinion, the prices of the massage are slightly pricier than what you can find on the main island of Coron, with average massage therapies ranging from 1,600 Pesos/ USD 35 to as high as 3,000 Pesos/ USD 58, depending on your choice.

You can book an appointment online at the hotel’s website, where you may find special deals during selected periods. This may be a safer option if you don’t want to be caught on the island without a massage. ☹

Most of the massages and treatments here last from 60 to 90 minutes, but there are packages and massages that can be as short as 30 minutes or as long as 120 minutes.

Glow Spa is open every day from 10am to 9pm, and I strongly suggest you to book an appointment a few hours in advance.

The first slot that you can book starts at 10am, but you could do what I did – book the last slot at 9pm so that you can really relax and unwind after a long and tiring day.

My Anti-Stress Massage Experience

I went down to the spa right after my hearty breakfast to see what therapeutic choices are available. The friendly masseuse welcomed me and offered me several top choices to choose from.

I went for the 60-minute anti-stress massage, which is a Swedish body massage using scented oils. The masseuse supposedly applies gentle medium pressure to relieve the tension and knots in my aching muscles, and is said to be good for promoting healthy blood circulation.

I was led to a small room with double bed, separated by a curtain, and given a comfortable set of clothes provided by to change into in the dim light. I later had to remove in order for her to effectively massage my upper back and body.

The masseuse started with my head and slowly moved on to massage my arms. She then proceeded to massage my back – which was what I was looking forward to the most as I have really tense shoulders. The massage ended with a relaxing thigh and calf massage. Coupled with the soothing music being played, I fell asleep almost instantly, only remembering wishing that her strokes could be harder to target my tight muscles.

It might just be me, but I wish that I had a stronger masseuse to massage me.

I was drowsy when I woke up, made only drowsier by the calming scent of the oil on my skin. The smell of oil lingered even after the massage was long over, and wherever I walked, I could smell it. 😊

Indulging in a spa is perfect for unwinding after the countless activities I’ve done on the beach like snorkelling and island hopping.

Prices start from USD275 on  HotelsCombinedAgoda and Booking.com

If you’re in to Palawan, you might want to check out Balabac too, another beach island paradise! 😉
