Opened in August 2017, Silks Club Kaohsiung is part of the Yui-mom Group, a Kaohsiung-based building contractor in Taiwan. Silks Club is operated by Regent Hotels Group.
Stepping into Silks Club Kaohsiung was like entering a realm of luxury and artistic wonder. The hotel’s commitment to encouraging creativity and connecting artists with guests makes for an enchanting experience.
A special thing to note is that Silks Club Kaohsiung only allows guests aged 10 years and above, making it an exclusive adult haven. If you’re planning a trip to Taiwan, this would be perfect for a couples getaway, solo adventures and friends seeking a relaxed and uninterrupted experience.

Silks Club Kaohsiung sits in the heart of Lingya District, Kaohsiung’s commercial district. The train station, fashion department stores, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, and the Maritime Cultural Popular Music Center are within walking distance.
Checking into Silks Club Kaohsiung, Taiwan
Checking into Silks Club Kaohsiung, I was greeted by the mesmerizing kinetic rain installation, from the same artists who did the metal raindrops at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 1, ART+COM. The show runs every hour for 33 minutes.
The next thing that greets you is the natural woody scent, adding to the sophistication of the hotel.
Check-in starts at 3pm, and there was a small lounge area towards the left of the reception.
What truly captivated me were the bespoke art pieces curated by nearly 200 contemporary artists from around the world. Many pieces displayed are for sale, where guests can scan a QR code to inquire.
Premier King Harbour Room
The decor of the room is modern and elegant, with flooring made from North American oak, and grey furnishings. I enjoyed this neutral, timeless palette, with some Japanese influences.
A small thing to note though, is that there are no charging ports beside the bed.
I loved waking up to the view of the harbour! For an even better and unobstructed experience, I’d recommend choosing a higher floor.
Welcome snacks – dried fruits and nuts, some fresh fruits and fruit cake.
The mini-bar comes with a coffee machine and tea set, with complimentary drinks from the mini-fridge, including a can of Asahi beer. There are also small plates and cutlery provided in case you’d like to have some small bites.
As part of the hotel’s Emerging Artist Programme, bespoke artworks are placed in every guest room.
This unique touch not only adds a sense of artistry to the rooms but also creates a deeper connection with the local culture and creativity. Not to mention, a chance to support local artists!
The greyish-blue marble used in the bathroom gives a nice touch of modern luxe.
The fittings are from Grohe. The TOTO automatic toilet has a motion-based closing and flushing feature, which is great!
The light intrigued me– I like how it’s understated, but adds a bit of artistic flair.
One thing I appreciated was this wireless Bose Bluetooth speaker– it connects seamlessly to my phone and I brought it to the bathroom to have a relaxing time in the tub.
Facilities at Silks Club Kaohsiung, Taiwan
The wellness floor at Level 16 houses the outdoor infinity pool, gym and onsen. The exclusivity of the hotel meant that most facilities were pretty unoccupied, with a serene non-kids atmosphere.
1. Outdoor infinity pool
The infinity pool overlooks the New Bay Area and has Instagram-worthy views of the cityscape, especially in the evenings as the sun is setting.
We were told that there’s a pool party every Saturday with cocktails and mocktails, as well as snacks provided by the hotel.
2. Gym
The gym is well-equipped. Guests can also book private gym classes.
3. Onsen
The Onsen rooms are separated by males and females, with sauna and steam room facilities, 2 pools (hot and cold) and a shower area.

Dining at Silks Club Kaohsiung, Taiwan
1. UKAI-tei Kaohsiung
UKAI-tei Kaohsiung is the first overseas branch to open outside of Japan. It currently holds a Michelin star, with a teppanyaki and grill restaurant.
UKAI-tei Grill uses premium local ingredients, as well as Wagyu beef and freshly caught seafood air-flown from Japan.
I enjoyed my dinner at the UKAI-tei Grill! The standouts for me were the charcoal-grilled water bamboo with tuna tartare, and you can never go wrong with Wagyu beef. The perilla dijon mustard was a unique pairing, which made the dish exceptional.
2. DASSAI Bar
Another premium offering, guests can unwind and indulge in sake in this namesake bar.
3. Hotel breakfast at Jade Lounge
Breakfast is served on the top floor in the Jade Lounge, overlooking the harbour. But there are also plenty of other options where you can eat outside the hotel.
You can choose from different breakfast sets– Taiwanese, Japanese or Western.
I chose the Japanese set with roasted salmon. The clam dobin soup (inside the teapot) was the star of the show– seafood goodness with a spicy kick.
The bakery has a selection of interesting artisan flavours, like tieguanyin tea croissants, green onion salted butter rolls, roselle toast and pineapple cheese bread. I tried all of the above– they were delicious!
The wood fire oven is surely a nice visual, giving a nice Parisian cafe vibe.
There’s also a buffet of dishes, more on the healthy, clean side of things.
Bonus: ALIEN Arts Centre
ALIEN Art Centre is also under the Yui-mom Group. It was transformed from the Kin-Ma Military Hostel, where the military used to spend the night during the Cold War.
Guests enjoy free entrance to this Arts Centre. There’s also a free shuttle service provided between Silks Club and ALIEN Art Centre, with booking recommended.
Inside, some installations honour the history of the building, as well as private art collections and even personal artwork from the CEO of Yui-mom Group.
There’s also a cafe to enjoy a nice brunch and desserts.
I’ll recommend Silks Club Kaohsiung to those looking for an intimate and classy stay. Everything from the furnishings and services is tastefully crafted, and the artistic elements make for a unique and memorable experience.
